How Fluid Storytelling Shaped My Comic Book Writing Journey

When I started researching how to create a comic book script, one technique that stood out to me was fluid storytelling. Instead of tightly planning every detail, you outline the major story components and then let the characters’ motivations and experiences, which emerge as you write, shape the narrative. This approach felt more interesting and natural compared to rigid scripting.

During the process of writing the first five chapters, I found myself adding elements I hadn’t originally planned. There were surprises that popped up simply because of the characters’ evolving nature. This flexibility gave me creative room but also led to some mistakes that I hadn’t anticipated.

Reading back through my comic, I noticed that I had made quite a few significant mistakes even in those initial chapters. I was aiming to avoid errors but realized they are unavoidable parts of the creative process. I expect I will keep making mistakes as I continue writing, which I’ve accepted as part of growth.

I plan to share more detailed reflections in a future video, going chapter by chapter to provide behind-the-scenes insights. I’ll discuss what I intended for the characters, how the story is unfolding, what worked well, what could be improved, and where I improvised or misstepped along the way.
