Is Real Estate a Bad Investment?
This is a tricky question. The answer is Yes and No. Technically, if you’re listening to Robert Kiyosaki, buying a house, in general, isn’t really an investment. It’s more of a liability than an asset as it costs money over time and doesn’t earn you money. With that logic in mind, I agree, Real Estate is NOT an investment. However, Real Estate is malleable. There’s a lot you can do with it. It’s not just something you own and will automatically make you money. There are logistics and strategies that you can use to maximize your returns. In this sense, Real Estate is absolutely an investment. In fact, it’s one of the best investments. I’m not going to spend a ton of time in this article explaining all of the ways you could invest in Real Estate (because, quite frankly, there are so many that I’m sure I don’t know them all and I’d guess that even the most seasoned Real Estate professionals couldn't name them all). However, it’s one of the few vehicles that can protect your money while simultaneously making you money in the form of HELOCs, Note Investing, Rental Income, Tax advantages, and so on, and so on, and so on. So, when it comes down to it, my answer overall is NO. Real Estate is a fantastic investment.
